 Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency form that uses cryptographic techniques to secure transactions, control the creation of new units, and verify asset transfers, operating independently of a central authority like banks or governments. Originating with Bitcoin in 2009, created by an individual or group under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, cryptocurrencies rely on blockchain technology. This decentralized ledger records all transactions across a network of computers. This ensures transparency, immutability, and resistance to fraud or tampering.
